Innovation through Research & Development
As one of the key activities in our enhancement of America's innovation base, The Franklin Foundation is working to strengthen support for independent research and development efforts by funding independent research and development for critical American industries.
A network of laboratories
Maximizing donor dollars, The Franklin Foundation is working to establish a national network of independent laboratories with America's top colleges and universities. We provide funding for special projects and research initiatives, both influencing innovation and strengthening the collegiate educational experience in the sciences, technology, and mathematics.
Driving innovation at all levels
The Franklin Foundation's National labs network (NalaNET) drives innovation by matching capable emerging research scientists, technologists and mathematicians in America's premier colleges and universities to critical research and development projects that affect America's long-term ability to remain competitive in an increasingly diverse global marketplace.
The innovations created through The Franklin Foundation's Independent Research & Development program are used by American businesses to improve processes, improve existing products, create new technologies, and develop new solutions. Through the business of philanthropy, The Franklin Foundation and NalaNET can produce efficient R&D solutions faster and at a lower over cost than companies can, making this a key public service in our mission to drive American innovation.
More information on our Research & Development program will be available soon.
