Ways you can help:
» As an IndividualAmerica needs more Women in Science...period.
As a special program, The Franklin Foundation has developed the WiSci Project, which aims at encouraging more women into science-based professions. From critical careers in medicine and chemistry to high-science professions in astrophysics, and virology, a greater representation of women in science means a stronger base of innovation for tomorrow's problems.
Community Focused
The Franklin Foundation's WiSci project will involve community action programs and events that teach girls the importance of the sciences in every day society. Greater exposure means improved chances young girls will become interested in pursing scientific careers. In-school careers in science fairs for teenage girls, and targeted workshops for adult women in other careers will also be a major part of this program
WiSci Camps
The Franklin Foundation's WiSci summer camp program will be for young ladies between the ages of 10 and 16 giving them an opportunity to attend a science-themed day camp program that will expand their minds in the areas of biology, chemistry, astronomy, physics, geology, oceanography, and zoology. The multi-faceted introductory level program will give young girls an introduction to all of the types of scientific careers that await them and what those careers entail. This program is slated to begin Summer 2010.
More than just a pet project...
We believe the inclusion of women in scientific careers is essential to America's future. The Franklin Foundation will work with other non-profit organizations including The Girl Scouts of America to assist in our national execution of this key project.
