Ways you can help:
» As an IndividualEnsuring Relevance
The Franklin Foundation's community programs take the sciences, mathematics, and technology education and make them relevant to the community at large through programs that put students, their families, and the community closer to the careers, innovations, and processes around them.
Franklin Science Fairs
The Science Fair, popular in the 60's, are being revived through community events sponsored by the Franklin Foundation. Eventually we will host regional and national science fairs that will pit America's greatest young innovators against each other for scholarship and grant opportunities, and of course, annual bragging rights. We believe competition breeds interest as well as innovation.
Technology Showcases
Similar in nature to science fairs, technology showcases will allow a new breed of scientists, computer scientists, to display their talents and abilities to the community through sponsored technology showcases that will feature everything from simple programs and innovative games, to complex designs for advanced computing and robotics.
Franklin Scholars
A key component of the Franklin Experience, our Franklin Scholars program matches experienced practitioners with aspiring students to create a well-rounded education in the sciences, mathematics, and technology fields. In the community, our Franklin Scholars can be counted on by local school districts and community colleges to provide their practical experience on their chosen career, necessary education, and the life tools necessary to achieve their level of accomplishment.
Additionally, we pair Franklin Scholars with parents of children with very specific interests to help them better prepare and plan for their child's potential future; a mentorship program whereby Franklin Scholars reach out to parents to help them enhance their children's educational outcomes.
The Franklin Scholastic Challenge
With schedules to be announced in 2010, the Franklin Scholastic Challenge will allow high schools to compete against each other in area and state-wide organized events that challenge their skills in the sciences, mathematics, and technology a through fun, game show-style contest that not only awards scholarship prizes to its winners, but also provides technology and equipment prizes to their schools.
Encouraging innovation by innovating...
The Franklin Foundation's community activities are innovating the way the community interacts with its future scientists, mathematicians, educators, technologists, and entrepreneurs. Please support our efforts in your community by applying to become a Franklin Scholar, or by donating your time, money, or resources to our philanthropic organization.
