FranklinWorkz is a unique philanthropic program that pairs students grades 8 through 12 with professionals in many various industries, to help students understand the various facets of careers in the sciences, mathematics, and technologies. While the FranklinWorkz program will not be available in every area in the U.S., the Franklin Foundation will offer relevant programs in all areas of the country. The following are a few examples of how the FranklinWorkz program extends classroom education to immerse students in the possibilities the sciences, technology, and mathematics present for their futures.
In the Laboratory
We work with professionals and organizations in various fields including the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, chemical, and research industries. Students are taken to laboratories to augment their studies in chemistry, biology, engineering, or mathematics.
In the Operating Theatre
Working with hospitals, the Franklin Foundation will expose interested students to the rigors of the medical sciences, giving them an opportunity to observe real surgeries, speak with residents and interns about their experiences, and learn about the many facets of the medical sciences, from psychology and nursing to neonatology and virology.
In the Datacenter
Working with local corporations, hosting and collocation centers, and major carriers, the Franklin Foundation provides students with the opportunity to learn about various technological disciplines. From systems administration to security engineering, students will be immersed in the technology that runs industry from a 1st person viewpoint, instead of just reading about it in a book.
