Ways you can help:
» As an IndividualThe idea behind BrightStart is providing tools, information, technologies, and innovating new concepts that significantly enhance the development of young children to better prepare them for more intensive educational experiences.
Learning tools for low-income families
Working with manufacturers of children's learning tools, both large and small, the Franklin Foundation puts those tools in the hands of low-income and at-risk families all around the country. These learning tools aren't toys...they expand the level of knowledge children have access to, and gets them excited about learning long before they ever get into school. We believe that learning tools can have a significant impact in the early development of children.
The BrightStart Parent's Challenge
Our parent's challenge sets up training resources all over the U.S. at community colleges, libraries, and high-schools, enabling parents to become more active in their children's education regardless of their own education level. This innovative program reinforces our mission to drive American innovation by encouraging continued learning experiences outside of the school walls.
