PRIVACY STATEMENT
Thank you for visiting www.franklinfound.org (our "Site"), the official website of The Franklin Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operating in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We appreciate the opportunity to interact with you on the Internet and are committed to protecting and safeguarding your privacy. The purpose of this Privacy Statement is to inform you about the types of information we might collect about you when you visit our Site, how we may use that information and whether we disclose that information to anyone.
What Information We Collect and How We Use It
Any information we collect on our Site generally falls into the Personally Identifiable Information category.
Personally Identifiable Information: This refers to information that lets us know specifically who you are. In general, you can visit our Site without telling us who you are or revealing any Personally Identifiable Information.
Donations (see security information below) - When you choose to donate to our foundation using our website, we collect Personally Identifiable Information (such as name, contact and billing information, credit card, and other transaction information). We use this information to process payment, and to communicate with you regarding your contribution, as well as future fundraising events, special information, and organization events to which donors are invited regularly. Credit card information submitted is used only for payment processing and is not retained on our Site. In the event you choose a recurring donation, we will retain your credit card information for a period of 1 year. Donors must update their automatic donation information annually.
Applications - When you complete an application with the foundation for (i) employment, (ii) council or board membership, (iii)volunteer or internship, we collect personally identifiable information (such as name, contact information, postal address, social security number, and other relevant information). This information is used for background and criminal history checks. Electronically filed applications are never maintained electronically, and are instead kept in physical medium for a period required by law for audit purposes
General contact and inquiry - When you send us an email, or submit a site contact form, we collect personally identifiable information (such as name, contact information, email address, and/or submitting IP address). This information is used only to maintain contact with you in answer to your inquiry, as well as for future correspondence. Future correspondence will only come from The Franklin Foundation directly, and never from a 3rd party. All correspondence will offer an opt out option.
Sharing Your Information
Except as disclosed in this Privacy Statement, we do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise retransmit any Personally Identifiable Information we collect online unless we have your written permission. Any Personally Identifiable Information you provide to us will be used for donations and retained in hard copy form of the original invoice as well as within our database system, which generates our invoices.
From time to time, we may be required to provide Personally Identifiable Information in response to court order, subpoena, or government investigation. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful. We may release Personally Identifiable Information when we believe that such release is reasonably necessary to enforce or apply our Limited Warranty or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others and ourselves.
Links To Other Web Sites
Links to third-party Web sites may be provided solely for your information and convenience, or to provide additional information for various other goods and services. If you use these links, you will leave our Site. This Privacy Statement does not cover the information practices of those Web sites linked to our Site, nor do we control their content or privacy policies. We suggest that you carefully review the privacy policies of each site you visit
Credit Card Security
Protecting the safety of your credit card information is also important to us. We use 128-bit or 256-bit* Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your credit card information as it is transmitted to us. SSL is the industry standard in Internet encryption technology, which is a highly sophisticated method of scrambling data as it travels from your computer to our Web site servers. Stored credit card data is also encrypted.
To make sure you are accessing our secure server before you submit personal financial information, look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending upon your browser), then SSL is active. To double-check for security, look at the URL or Address line of your browser. If you have accessed a secure server, the first characters of the address in that line should change from "http" to "https."
It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.
Changes To This Statement
Any updates or changes to the terms of this Privacy Statement will be posted here on our Site and the date of the newest version posted below. Please check back frequently, especially before you submit any Personally Identifiable Information at our Site, to see if this Privacy Statement has changed.
By using our Site, you acknowledge acceptance of this Privacy Statement in effect at the time of use.
Contact Us
If you have any concerns about our use of your information or about this Privacy Statement, please send an e-mail to contactus@franklinfound.org. We will make every reasonable effort to address your concerns and remedy any problems you bring to our attention.
